Using Bauhaus theater, Ikebana and Arte Povera as variant points of departure in his work, Ned Colclough’s sculptural assemblages encompass a visual style where formalism, minimalism, and neo-modernism are repositioned into abstract mediations. Balancing his sculptural elements--a vocabulary that includes found wood, stone, rope, and plaster--into orchestrated compositions, Colclough lends a lyrical and poetic relationship to both material and object. Colclough received his BFA from the NYSCC School of Art and Design in Alfred, NY. Recent exhibitions include a solo show at Nicelle Beauchene Gallery, New York and group shows at Halsey Mckay Gallery, East Hampton, NY; Zieher Smith, New York; Sara Meltzer Gallery, NY; and in curated exhibitions by Apartment Show. He is a recent recipient of the 140 Foundation Emerging Artist Grant. Colclough lives and works in Brooklyn, and is represented by Nicelle Beauchene Gallery.
