We are deeply saddened by the events and senseless murders of eight people, six of whom were Asian women, that happened in the Atlanta area this week. Anti-Asian and Pacific Islander racism and violence are unacceptable and deeply rooted in our society. We stand with our AAPI community members, staff, artists, board members, and neighbors and we extend gratitude, love, and support to these communities.

In response to the alarming escalation in xenophobia and bigotry resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Asian Pacific Planning and Policy Council (A3PCON), Chinese for Affirmative Action (CAA), and the Asian American Studies Department of San Francisco State University launched the Stop AAPI Hate reporting center on March 19, 2020. Stop AAPI Hate tracks and responds to incidents of hate, violence, harassment, discrimination, shunning, and child bullying against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States. Red Canary Song is a grassroots collective of Asian & migrant sex workers, organizing transnationally. They are the only grassroots Chinese massage parlor worker coalition in the U.S. There are over 9000 workplaces like these across the country with no political representation or access to labor rights or collective organizing. Anti-trafficking NGOs that claim to speak for migrants in sex trades promote increased policing and immigration control, which harms rather than helps migrant sex workers.
Red Canary Song centers base-building with migrant workers through a labor rights framework and mutual aid. We believe that full decriminalization is necessary for labor organizing and anti-trafficking. Red Canary Song also organizes transnationally with Asian sex workers across the diaspora in Toronto, Paris, and Hong Kong.

Support our Asian Elders during COVID-19
The past few weeks have stress-tested the various global, national, and local systems in place. These inadequacies have left our Asian Elders disproportionately vulnerable and isolated during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The funds from this relief will go to support Asian Elders in the Bay Area with food, basic utilities, and/or online access. As the news regarding the pandemic is changing daily, we want to keep the funds flexible to go where they are most needed yet be held accountable to be used in the most effective and impactful ways possible.

Bystander Intervention and De-Escalation Training
In response to the rise in Anti-Asian/American and xenophobic harassment, Hollaback! partnered with Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAJC) to adapt our free bystander intervention training as well as offering de-escalation training to meet this moment.
Unfortunately, anti-Asian and Asian American racism and xenophobia are not new phenomena. It has been part of American history for a long time, and we have seen it manifested against different Asian/American and Pacific Islander communities in many ways over the years. As the coronavirus pandemic escalates, we have seen more harassment, discrimination, and even violence directed at these communities. The AAJC affiliation has been documenting hate crimes and hate incidents since 2017 at www.StandAgainstHatred.org, which is available in English, Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese.

Dumplings Against Hate
New York’s Nine Chinatowns are hanging by a thread. Many restaurants have already closed due to coronavirus: 98% of Manhattan’s Chinatown alone are small businesses, and some have begun to pay their employees out of their own pocket to survive.
Chinatowns have always been there for you. When you needed a cheap and delicious meal, you got wonton noodle soup. When you were drunk at 3am and desperately needed dumplings, that restaurant was always open. And when you needed a brunch place for nine friends, you knew that dimsum place had it covered.
