PICA is committed to sharing resources from across our community, both in Portland and beyond. Although these are not PICA's programs or initiatives, we are excited to be able to utilize our platform as a vehicle to help share these opportunities, especially those that work to dissolve white supremacist culture in the United States. We urge you to join us in taking action: donate, read, post, petition, protest, and have tough conversations. We are asking our white and non-Black audiences, artists, donors, partner organizations, and ourselves to find ways to show up and actively engage in solidarity with, and support of QTBIPOC, Black, Indigenous, and communities of color, and other historically underserved and underrepresented peoples. Fuller Rosen Gallery is pleased to present Things that have to do with fire, a solo show of new work by Portland-based artist Vo Vo. Their newest series of video, print, and large-scale textile banners focus on the social, racial, and environmental upheaval during the summer of 2020. Led by the ideals of Black Lives Matter, Antifa, and their own background as a radical educator, Vo’s solo show investigates the multitudes of activism and is a call for social justice and global solidarity.

LEARN + DONATE: “Home on Hold” a digital comic by Naomi Rubin with Pueblo Unido
"Home on Hold" is based on interviews with Pueblo Unido's clients and is a way that Pueblo Unido can sensitively and anonymously share the stories of individuals who have been arrested by ICE, but with the support of Pueblo Unido, were released from detention. In producing this comic Pueblo Unido wants to uplift the resilient individuals who are affected by the threat of ICE, showcase how they thrive in their families and community, but also demonstrate how much is irreparably lost when they are taken away from their lives. "Home on Hold" is made entirely by Pueblo Unido volunteers and staff, with funding from the Multnomah County Cultural Coalition. You can view parts of this comic now on Pueblo Unido's Instagram.

FUNDING: Cue Art Foundation Open Call for Exhibitions

The Solo Exhibition Open Call provides emerging and under-recognized artists the necessary resources to present an exhibition at CUE in 2022. The selected artists will receive valuable mentor support from an established artist or curator on the selection panel, including a studio visit and installation guidance in preparation for the exhibition. In addition, exhibiting artists each receive a $5,000 honorarium and an accompanying exhibition catalogue with an essay written by a participant in CUE’s Art Critic Mentoring Program.

FUNDING: Pabst Blue Ribbon's Open Door Grant Program

Pabst Blue Ribbon is committing $25,000 for rising creators of all multidisciplinary fields. The Open Door Grant Program Contest will disburse $5,000 USD to five applicants in an effort to take their new or existing initiatives to the next level. Artists from all creative disciplines and fields are encouraged to apply, including but not limited to photographers, sculptors, painters, drawers, muralists, sound artists, filmmakers, digital artists, and models.
All applicants must be 21 or older, and reside in Washington, California, Texas, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Colorado, or Oregon. Submissions can apply to new or existing projects that have not yet been published.
