ILLEGAL ART
A special collaboration between PICA
and the Feldman Gallery, Pacific Northwest College of Art.
A multi-media exhibition celebrating what is rapidly becoming the “degenerate art” of a corporate age. David Byrne and Danielle Spencer, Ray Beldner, Packard Jennings, Todd Haynes and Heidi Cody present art and ideas on the fringes of intellectual property that have eluded lawyers, appeared in court and caused debate and controversy. This exhibition explores whether intellectual property laws discourage the creation of new works and questions its survival if current laws are allowed to stand.
Presented by Nan Curtis and the Feldman Gallery at the Pacific Northwest College of Art and initiated by Carrie McLaren of Stay Free! Magazine. Stay Free! is a Brooklyn-based magazine that explores the politics and perversions of mass media and American culture.
Venue generously donated by Pacific Northwest College of Art.
