TBA:20 FAQ
Are in-person events accessible?
The location of in-person events will be announced one day in advance of each program on Instagram @PICAPDX and in PICA’s newsletters. To sign up for PICA newsletters, create an account at pica.org/account. Seating will not be provided.
If you have questions about the accessibility of a specific venue/location, including questions about parking, please contact Audience Services for information at audienceservices@pica.org or 503-224-PICA(7422).
Will I need a facemask for in-person events?
Yes. Masks, face shields, and face coverings are currently required statewide and will be required at all indoor and outdoor TBA events. All TBA:20 in-person events will follow the state-wide mandates at the time of the event for mask requirements and capacity.
Are virtual events accessible for people who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing?
The PICA team is actively working to make TBA as accessible as possible with our online and streaming technologies. Several TBA:20 virtual events will be captioned. Captioning will be closed, open, or live depending on the type of media and streaming platform capabilities. Some will have downloadable transcriptions available in place of, or in addition to, captions. A few virtual events will include ASL interpretation. Due to current pandemic health risks, live ASL interpretation at in-person events has not been arranged. Please contact PICA if you have questions or concerns about this.
We will continue to update event listings on our website to reflect the most up to date information regarding captioning, interpretation, and other forms of communication access. If you have questions about the accessibility of any TBA event in advance, or would like an overview of what will be available, please contact Audience Services at audienceservices@pica.org or 503-224-PICA (7422) to discuss your questions and access needs with a member of our staff. We will do our best to provide you with accurate information, as far in advance as possible, to create an accessible and welcoming experience.
Where do I watch virtual events?
All virtual events will be streamed at picatv.org.
Do I need an account to watch?
Yes. To watch any virtual TBA events you’ll need to create an account through our streaming platform. This is a very quick process and we encourage you to do this in advance of the festival. In addition, for Jaamil Olawale Kosoko’s September 21, 11:00 AM PDT program of American Chameleon: The Living Installments audience members are invited to view and participate through Discord.com. You will need an account for this, and more information is available on the American Chameleon: The Living Installments webpage.

Do I need a ticket or a pass?
TBA:20 Events are accessible by a Festival pass through picatv.org. The passes are free and will enable you to access almost all of the festival programming, but we encourage making a donation at a level that is meaningful to you. Tickets for Thin Skin are off-pass and are available sliding scale $5-$15. Fifty percent of the Festival contributions will be shared between Don't Shoot PDX, Pueblo Unido, and the MRG Foundation's Since Time Immemorial Fund. The remaining funds will go to support artists and future programming at PICA.
Do I need to make reservations?
Some events do require a reservation. Please see PICA.org/tba or picatv.org for specific event requirements.
How do I donate?
You can donate directly to PICA through pica.org/support/donations, on picatv.org, through PayPal, or by calling PICA’s Development Manager, Kim Crosby, at 503.242.1419 x22.
If I am in another area of the country or world, can I still watch/participate?
Yes! Please just note that all times are in Pacific Daylight Time (PDT). Please note, the screening of Thin Skin is available for audiences in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho only.
Which shows are appropriate for children?
PICA supports freedom of expression for artists and the audiences’ right to choose what to see and hear. Due to the nature of live performance, we cannot pre-screen all works for content. However, if you have specific concerns or questions, our Audience Services staff can offer suggestions on shows.
Will TBA content be available after the event?
This varies on a project by project basis. We encourage you to watch and participate in TBA:20 events during their listed times to ensure you are able to experience the program.
What if I still have questions?
We encourage everyone to join us on September 10 for the TBA:20 Welcome + How-To event. This will be streaming on the opening day of the Festival, September 10 at 5:30PM PDT.
