There You Are
Written and performed by Holland Andrews
DESCRIPTION
There You Are is a one-on-one, individualized musical performance piece by Holland Andrews which takes place via phone call and text message. There You Are centers around creating a personal connection within a performance without needing to be in the same space together, with the intention of conjuring expansion, presence, and self-realization. The performance begins with a text message interaction with Andrews where they guide you through emotional prompts to nurture your connection to the present moment and prepare you for the call portion. Andrews will then call you and sing to you over the phone while you're listening to a new original composition created exclusively for There You Are, and also created exclusively to provide room for you to experience freedom in your emotional world, however you choose to. You are always allowed to experience harmony within yourself. Let this be one of those opportunities.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Holland Andrews is a vocalist, composer, and performance artist whose work is based on emotionality in its many forms. Andrews focuses on the abstraction of operatic and extended-technique voice to build soundscapes encompassing both catharsis and dissonance. Frequently highlighting themes surrounding vulnerability and healing, Andrews arranges music for voice, clarinet, and electronics. Andrews also develops and performs soundscapes for dance, theater, and film, and their work is toured internationally with artists such as Bill T. Jones, Dorothée Munyaneza, Will Rawls, and poet Demian DinéYazhi’. Notable musical collaborations include Son Lux, Christina Vantzou, Peter Broderick, and more. In addition to their live performance and composition work, Andrews teaches workshops surrounding vocal embodiment as a vessel for softening the resistance to living as our most compassionate and harmonious selves through visualization and emotional prompts. Andrews currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.
