THE WAU-WAU SISTERS

“The duo’s command over the large crowd is no surprise. They are, after all, two scantily clad young ladies crooning dirty songs. They are also, however, highly skilled circus performers and aerialists who unleash their lewd material with great cheer and singular archness.” —The Village Voice

The Wau-Wau Sisters have been wooing audiences all across the land since this sibling duo took the stage six years ago. Their singular and saucy combination of aerial and circus skills, original songwriting—from country to rock to rap—audacious costuming, and hilarious use of props, cocktails and cliche make for a night of careening surprises and titillating fun. Big on talent, tricks and tan lines, they can mix martinis in a handstand, while smoking Pall Malls and thinking impure thoughts! They’ll fill your hearts and your bellies, and then some! Always on the run and dogged by a trail of incriminating Polaroids, they take solace in their imagined celebrity, arriving in their hot-pink Buick, matching disguises, and gin-soaked smiles, claiming to feats unmatched and unimaginable acts at every turn. There’s no trick these sisters can’t turn for the right price!

Their unique show has been paired with such diverse acts as the gloriously never-was Kiki and Herb, post-punk electro band Le Tigre, the generation-crossing Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players, and TV On the Radio among others, all while sustaining and culling a passionate following during the two-year run of their ever-changing weekly show and producing four CDs of their music.
