TBA:26 ACCESS

 

All TBA:26 venues are ADA-accessible for those using mobility aids.


PICA'S LOCATION AND SPACE

PICA is located in the Boise-Eliot neighborhood of Northeast Portland at 15 NE Hancock Street. ADA-accessible, gender-neutral restrooms and water coolers are located inside and near the entrance.

  • The Main Space and Annex is on the ground floor and accessible to those with mobility aids.
  • PICA’s back lot is accessible for those with mobility aids but has a slight slope.
  • The Bar Garden is an outdoor space with some seating and is accessible to those with mobility aids.

Priority seating at performances is available for those with access needs. If possible, contact the TBA Box Office (boxoffice@pica.org or (503) 224-7422) to arrange in advance. Service animals, as defined by the ADA, are welcome.



WHERE TO FIND ACCESS INFORMATION FOR SPECIFIC TBA:26 EVENTS

When available, each TBA:26 webpage features an access section dedicated to information that may affect a viewer’s experience of a TBA event, such as content or strobe light warnings, or language information on sub/supertitles. Please note these descriptions are subject to change due to the evolving nature of artistic performance.

 

HOW TO REQUEST ACCESS SERVICES FOR TBA:26

To submit a request for access services such as ASL interpretation, audio description, or CART, please contact the Box Office at boxoffice@pica.org or 503-224-PICA (7422).

To ensure the requested service will be provided at the correct event, please include the date and time in addition to the name of the event you plan to attend. 

If possible, please submit access requests at least two weeks before the event. This will give us time to coordinate services and better serve you. Due to limited resources, we cannot ensure that the request will be fulfilled. However, we will do our best to honor each one we receive.


Some ways we are thinking about access for TBA:26: 

  • Providing more comprehensive accessibility notes in the TBA catalog and on our website beyond ADA compliance, including more information about venues and spaces, sensory elements in performances, and communication access options (e.g., ASL interpretation, Computer Aided Real-Time Transcription (CART), and audio description)

  • Improving processes for requesting and meeting access needs 

  • Dedicating more staff time and resources to accessibility planning and implementation

  • Approaching accessibility as a continuous opportunity to do better, grounded in an intersectional framework.

As we strive to create greater access to our programs and events, including the TBA Festival, we welcome feedback and dialogue from audiences and artists about their experiences and suggestions for improvement. PARKING AND TRANSPORTATION

PICA is near TriMet bus lines 4, 6, 17, and 44. Stops for the A Loop and B Loop Streetcar are approximately 0.3 miles from the building. The nearest MAX station is Rose Quarter Transit Center, which is approximately 0.5 miles away.

PICA does not have a parking lot. PICA's neighborhood has recently changed its parking requirements. The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) uses special parking time limits and rates near venues with large events with 10,000 or more people, including the Moda Center, Oregon Convention Center, Veterans Memorial Coliseum, and Providence Park. This includes the area surrounding PICA. Please click on this link to see the schedule of upcoming events and pay for parking accordingly*.

*Please note the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) has recently announced that starting Sept. 11, all southbound lanes of Interstate 5 in the Rose Quarter will close 24/7 for five weeks as they conduct critical repairs. The closure of this 2-mile section may impact your transportation to PICA and other TBA:26 venues. Drivers can expect:

  • I-5 southbound on-ramps from Alberta, Greeley, and I-405 northbound/Fremont Bridge will be closed.
  • All I-5 southbound travel will be detoured to I-405 southbound. Regional traffic will be directed to I-205. 
  • One lane of I-5 southbound will remain open to the Broadway exit by the Moda Center.
  • I-84 westbound to I-5 southbound will remain open. 
  • I-5 northbound will remain open.
