Join us for the opening night of TBA at Elbow Room’s GOOD DANG WEEKNIGHT! This festival opener is a bingo night followed by a live music show, all serving as a fundraiser to benefit Elbow Room—a nonprofit community art studio and gallery space focused on providing artistic mentorship, material support, and meaningful exhibition opportunities to artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Portland, OR. 

Dress to impress, and bring that competitive bingo energy! GOOD DANG WEEKNIGHT! is fueled by amazing prizes, lucky numbers, and a community built out of real, resilient materials: inclusivity, creative practice, adaptability, improvisation, and collaboration.

After Bingo—hosted by Kye Alive—we’ll have free live music by the band Magic Luscious Spirit Sounds, so stick around (or join us) at the celebratory dance party. GOOD DANG WEEKNIGHT! will be a spirited way to open the Festival with collective care and good sportsmanship abound. Don’t miss out on this lively night!

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Elbow Room was formed in 2020 after the closure of various day programs due to COVID-19. The goal was to maintain and support a community of Portland artists who have been working and creating side by side for the better part of a decade. Many, if not all, have moved through various iterations of progressive art programs around the Portland, OR metro area for most of their lives and have relied on many systems to access creative and social space.

Elbow Room began as a virtual-based group that was open and accessible to folks experiencing intellectual and developmental disabilities. For seven days a week, participants could hang out with community members, socialize, and make art. Supplies were gathered and distributed throughout the community, and when vaccines became available, small groups met in public to make art in person. As time went on, various community spaces offered to house art-making groups for the day.

After gaining nonprofit status, Elbow Room was able to secure a studio/gallery space in SE Portland in August 2022. Artists supported by various provider organizations began to use the space and materials to explore creativity and participate in the latest iteration of a sustained art community. Elbow Room was granted a license from the Oregon Office of Developmental Disability Services in 2025 and began operating as an independent provider organization in 2026.
