Description

On Wednesday, June 10 from 6:00–8:00 PM, join artist Meech Boakye and mathematician Kyle Ormsby for a collaborative workshop exploring playful forms of drawing through meander combinatorics.

Beginning with a brief conversation about collaborative artistic practice and mathematical braid diagrams, participants will experiment piecing together a series of wooden stamps to make large-scale prints. Participants can work individually and collectively to build their drawings from geometric forms, discovering unexpected structures and relationships through play.

Rather than prescribing outcomes, this workshop invites participants to “connect the dots” in their own ways, exploring how complex systems can emerge through repetition, intuition, and shared experimentation. This workshop is free and open to all ages. Snacks will be available throughout the event. Reservations required, please click the "Get Tickets" button to reserve your free spot.

This workshop is part of Go Figures a forthcoming exhibition at PICA, by Meech Boakye in collaboration with Kyle Ormsby, that translates structures from topology and combinatorics into embodied experience through sculpture and collective mark-making.
